Her music has brought her to perform at various venues in the states, Hawaii and the Marianas Islands. Her song, “Why Wait”, was inspired by the uprisings in North Africa, particularly Tunisia and Egypt. It is a small token of her appreciation all the freedom fighters, martyrs, and everyday people who took the streets, demanded their dignity, and won. She hopes this buzz continues to spread around the world, empowering people to stand up for their rights, particularly in her homeland of the Marianas Islands, where indigenous people continue to struggle for their self-determination amidst massive militarization and land-takings by the US.

My wife’s family is from Egypt, so these events directly affecting her relatives. When I heard one of the protesters on television call Mr. Mubarak a dog, something clicked. I thought of the classic book, “Go, Dog. Go!” by P.D. Eastman, made famous for being part of the wildly successful Dr. Seuss-series of children’s books. So, I felt a parody was in order. I found the a copy of the book and tried to be true to the style of the fonts and design, while adding my own touches — Mubarak’s head replacing the dog’s head, Giza’s pyramids in the background, and finally added the colors of the Egyptian flag. God willing, the revolution will be theirs.

For every week that this lasts I plan on painting an innocent life killed in the struggle.

This is a live recording from a jam session at The Workshop, San Francisco. The mood was somber, thankful and strong that night. Together with my SF fam, Joey Chimko on guitar, Powder on the beatbox and myself on the vocals we were able to 100% freestyle as a team and come up with something memorable and touching. My thoughts and heart are in the center of Tahrir Square right now and in a past jam session seems like we were right there conjuring up the same emotions. Peace be with all.

Jacqueline is a vocalist, drummer and founder of The Mint Collective, a compilation of humans using their blessings to increase visibility for independent artists of all sorts. http://themintcollective.com

“Save the Children” is a 1971 song written by Al...

“Save the Children” is a 1971 song written by Al Cleveland, Renaldo Benson and Marvin Gaye and issued on Marvin’s 1971 album, What’s Going On. The song was a continuation of the message “What’s Going On” delivered, about love, this time, for the children.

Inspired by the resilience of Egyptian people during their recent uprising, several notable musicians from North America have teamed up to release a song of solidarity and empowerment. The track is fittingly titled “#Jan25” as a reference to both the date the protests officially began in Egypt, and its prominence as a trending topic on Twitter. Produced by Sami Matar, a Palestinian-American composer from Southern California, and featuring the likes of Freeway, The Narcicyst, Omar Offendum, HBO Def Poet Amir Sulaiman, and Canadian R&B vocalist Ayah - this track serves as a testament to the revolution’s effect on the hearts and minds of today’s youth, and the spirit of resistance it has come to symbolize for oppressed people worldwide.

Artist Information:
Omar Offendum (MC #1) - http://twitter.com/Offendum
The Narcicyst (MC #2) - http://twitter.com/TheNarcicyst
Freeway (MC #3) - http://twitter.com/PhillyFreezer
Amir Sulaiman (MC #4) http://twitter.com/AmirSulaiman
Ayah (R&B Vocalist) - http://twitter.com/AyahMusic
Sami Matar (Producer) - http://twitter.com/SamiMatar
Artwork by Ridwan Adhami http://www.ridzdesign.com
